Top Gun Filming Locations

The Movie Top Gun was primarily filmed in and around San Diego.

Many scenes were shot at Miramar Naval Air Station, which is now the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. You can't really visit the base, except the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum or during the annual Miramr Air Show. As you drive on Rt 15 near the base you often see jets flying over head.

The Kansas City BBQ was not only used in the movie, but also still has a good collection of memorabilia from the movie.

Some scenes were shot at the Red Fox Room Piano Bar and the Lafayette Hotel and Suites.

The intersection of Union St and W Laurel St was the site of the famous motorcycle scene.

During filming much of the cast stayed at the Bahia Resort Hotel.

Top Gun was Released in 1986, was directed by Tony Scott, and starred Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, and Val Kilmer.
