A Best of San Diego List by Miserly, Broke, Comic Book Artist and Grad Student (now that's a tight pocketbook) -Ryan Claytor

Restaurants: Mission Coffee House - 3795 Mission Blvd, San Diego, 92109 (Serves amazingly delicious and hardy breakfasts that are easy on the budget...if you can handle the weekend wait.)

Stores: Comickaze - 5525 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego CA 92117-2342 (Voted the best comic book store in San Diego, and rightfully so. Owner, Robert Scott, has a HUGE stock of not just mainstream titles, but mucho indies as well.)

Events: Coronado Summer Sunday Concert Series in Sprekels Park (I can't think of a more pleasant way to end the weekend than to throw your blanket out in Sprekels Park on a warm evening in Coronado and be serenaded by a different, FREE, band every week.)

Beaches: Mission Beach/Bay (Perfect pathways for skating, people-watching, and if you time it right...you can even crash a company picnic or two.)

Beaches: Torrey Pines, the walk from Torrey Pines North Beach to Del Mar is fantastic (just watch the tides!)

Restaurants: Ranchos in North Park and Ocean Beach, Pokez in East Village, and Mama's Lebanese in North Park.

Shopping: All Vegan in University Heights.

Events: Comic-Con (Nerds Unite!)
