Jack and Giulio's Italian Restaurant

I have to tell you that this is my absolute favorite restaurant in San Diego. Our family has been going there since it was in PB as a white tablecloth, 2-story Italian restaurant in the 80's, then they moved to Old Town.

Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning that the Scampi Giulio is about the most delicious entree in San Diego. In fact, I don't think I have ever tried anything else on the menu in 25 years. My wife has, and always returns to Scampi Giulio.

Our old waiter, Nando, retired years ago, but he always suggested that you start your meal with a Negroni, Campari, gin and sweet vermouth. That has been a must for a quarter of a century.

Try it, you'll like it. BTW, this is the place I insist on for 75% of my special birthday dinners, though I also absolutely love Manhattan in La Jolla for their canneloni, and we have spent 2 special occasions at Rei del Gado downtown too, but I far prefer J&G. In fact, I have not though of them in awhile...I think I will take my wife there tomorrow for lunch to celebrate the first weekend of the Chinese New Year.

Scarpole, if I spelled that right...I was told that it means your meal was so good that you wipe all the sauce off your plate with your last piece of bread.
